Garden And Guns

My daughter handed me a magazine this afternoon that her husband had come across in a waiting room. Until this particular blog I never felt the need to add a photo. I want to show you the magazine cover so you will believe me.  Until I get with my web design company I can't do that.
The magazine is named  "Garden & Gun".  Wow. Plants and shooting.  Fertilizer and bullets. Vegetables and revolvers.
I could go on and on but I was amazed that someone not only had this idea but that they could market this to advertisers. Yes, they had advertisers. I can just imagine that sales call. "What we are going to do is to publish a magazine that you need to advertise in. We will have articles about Butterfly Gardening and articles titled "Shoot to kill or shoot to maim?"
I just do not think the two things are similar. Gardening is an activity involving nurturing and beauty. A gun is an object that's purpose is to destroy... whether that is an animal or a clay target. You don't use your gun in the garden. Their combination is bewildering.
It is actually a beautiful magazine with interesting articles and inspiring photography. I think they did not spend enough time on the name.  Gardenandgun.com.  Check it out.

I had heard of this magazine before. You just never know. Maybe it will make it. What an unusual mash-up of ideas. I wonder what other unusual combinations we could come up with?

Hey Victor, I'm thinking of starting a new magazine. I'm not sure of the title though, how does Shotguns/Pansies or Rifles/Herbs sound?

There are a lot of survivalist groups that also believe in gardening as a means of survival. Gardening is a renewable food source that can be use in the event of a food shortage. I typically disregard people who believe in conspiracies, but I have an emergency seed bank just in case I ever need to plant an emergency garden.
