Winding Down 2009
We are 10 days away from closing the nursery for the Holidays. We will be closed from December 24th at 2pm until Monday January 4th. All the employees will get a weeks vacation and hopefully come back rested and ready for 2010. Plants For All Seasons on Hwy. 249 was the highest rated nursery in the Houston area for 2009. Those ratings were gathered on HoustonGardener.net. and are a testament to the dedication and hard work of my employees. I want to thank them for a job well done.
In my last blog Under A Dark Cloud Lately i whined about some bad luck and frustrating situations. Everything is working out well at this time. I have a brand new engine. The burglaries have stopped and with the help of law enforcement, the forger has been fired and I believe that the lease is going to be cancelled and all my money returned.
I have one more challenge left for 2009 at the nursery. One of my employees is coming back from his first semester at the University of Texas. He was an offensive lineman and competed in the shot put in high school. I arm wrestled Kevin this past August before he left for college. He was 6 inches taller, 30 pounds heavier and 40 years younger than myself. He was the biggest strongest kid that worked there. I didn't expect to win but I did. Three times. So Kevin pledged that he was going to workout 5 times a week this Fall and come back this Christmas to even the score. i bet the heaviest thing he lifted in college was a Budweiser. Wish me luck just in case I am wrong.
I wish everyone a joyful Christmas and a Happy New Year!

It is 10 a.m. Tuesday the 15th and guess who just showed up here at the nursery...Kevin. He says that college went well but let Sherri and I know that he has been sick this semester with the flu and strep. I think he's already making excuses for when my dad beats him again. hahaha!! Go Dad!
