We Didn't Know
PFAS has never been an event nursery. We have not driven sales by putting on gardening classes or bringing in expert speakers. Honestly, I have felt overwhelmed just keeping a 7 day a week business with perishable products and a self expectation to provide great customer service. Next week we are going to move out of our comfort zone and have a class on "square foot gardening". Andy from Lady Bug Naturals offered to teach the class and my daughter Sherri decided that she would spearhead this effort. Sherri had to figure out where, how and what. Hopefully the why will show up in increased revenues. We originally hoped for 20-30 attendees. We knew we could do that.
Sherri sent out an email blast to announce the class last week. The phone calls started immediately. Our cashier, Catherine, signed up 40 people in a very short time. Very soon after that we had 80 attendees signed up. Uh oh! Houston... we have a problem. We never considered having to limit this class. Parking space and where to conduct a class this size were now a big issue.
We continued getting calls so we had to start an afternoon class. We now have 39 folks signed up for the second class and have 5 days to still sign up people. Sherri has ordered 2 large tents, a microphone, chairs and refreshments for the classes. I feel the need to thank Home Depot for the use of their superb parking lot for the overflow of our consumers that want to learn more about vegetable gardening. Thanks!

Told ya! Other possibilities could be classes on fruit trees, composting, rainwater harvesting, and grafting.
